I didn’t get to know about McLaren F1 till I started exploring Instagram, I was actually opened to a new world of exotic lifestyle and there it was a three seater. It sounded and looked like a tale and right now the genius behind the 1992 three seater supercar, McLaren F1, has the Gordon Murray T.50 that draws inspiration and pays tribute to the McLaren F1.
Gordon Murray who conceived the idea of McLaren F1 that started with setting Guinness World Record for the world’s fastest production car in 1993 reaching 240 mph.
Gordon Murray T.50 is everything that McLaren F1 needs in this epoch. The classic supercar McLaren F1 sold for a record $20,465,000 in August at Monterey Car Week compared to $3 million Gordon Murray T.50 road version and $3.4 Gordon Murray T.50 track only version set for January 2022 and 2023 respectively.
Gordon Murray T.50 is significant, celebrating Gordon Murray’s half a century as an engineer and the 50th production car from his own. The masterpiece is equipped with a bespoke naturally aspirated V-12 engine mated with 6 – speed manual transmission gearbox blistering 700 horsepower and 2173 pound-feet.
The supercar is just breathtaking especially from it’s rear, a fan in the rear grill behind the engine for ground effect that is improving the T.50 downforce. The original concept is from Gordon Murray’s 1978 formular 1 car, Brabham BT46B.
100 cars are set to roll out of Gordon Murray Automotive headquarters in Surrey, England which are all sold out, so you’d definitely have to wait a bit to make an order for a new line up.
